A spot in the ALDS will be up for grabs when the Cleveland Guardians host the Detroit Tigers at 3:08 p.m. ET on Thursday at Progressive Field on ABC.
Cleveland kept its season alive with a 6-1 win in Game 2, scoring five runs in the eighth inning to break a 1-1 deadlock. George Valera and Bo Naylor both homered to lead the way for the Guardians.
The Guardians are slight favorites to win Thursday’s finale, as right-hander Slade Cecconi (7-7, 4.30 ERA) will get the start. Detroit will give the ball to right-hander Jack Flaherty (8-15, 4.64 ERA) on Thursday.

Tigers vs. Guardians Prediction for Game 3
Based on the initial MLB betting lines, I like the under as my favorite Tigers vs. Guardians prediction for the second game in a row. I grabbed an early 7.5, but would play this down to seven.
This wager should have gotten to the window in Game 2 if not for the Guardians scoring five runs in the eighth inning. The Guardians hit two homers, which is something I don’t expect to happen for a second straight day.
As mentioned in the Game 2 preview, Cleveland ranked last among all playoff teams in most offensive categories. The Guardians scored 643 runs on the year, ranking 28th in all of baseball and surpassing only the Colorado Rockies and Pittsburgh Pirates.
That said, Detroit’s lineup isn’t much scarier. The Tigers have managed three runs through two games in this series. They ranked 16th in the majors with a batting average of .247 during the regular season.
Additionally, I expect both managers to be proactive in making substitutions during an elimination game. They will try to exploit matchups and manufacture runs.
In the previous seven head-to-head meetings, only one game has finished over its closing total. The line has closed as low as six over that span, so I expect the market to prefer another low-scoring matchup in Game 3.
