Left-handed starter Ranger Suárez could net a nice payday as one of the top targets in free agency.
Suárez, who turned 30 in August, posted a 3.20 ERA and a 4.7 bWAR during the 2025 season with the Philadelphia Phillies. In his eight years with the Phillies, Suárez has a 3.38 ERA in 187 games, striking out 705 batters across 762 innings.
His agent is Scott Boras, so don’t be surprised if Suárez patiently waits for the best offer leading up to the 2026 season.
Ranger Suárez Next Team Odds & Favorites

The Baltimore Orioles have been busy this offseason, signing Pete Alonso for $155 million. But no team needs a starter more than the Orioles, which is why they have been seen as the favorites to sign Suárez this offseason.
Despite having multiple left-handers in the rotation, the Phillies could certainly afford to bring back Suárez. They’ve already demonstrated the willingness to keep their core, retaining Kyle Schwarber with a deal worth $150 million.
In addition, the Chicago Cubs, Houston Astros, and New York Mets would all make sense as potential destinations for Suárez.
Ranger Suárez Next Team Prediction
Although things could change in the coming weeks, I’m predicting that Suárez will sign with the Orioles before the 2026 season.
Baltimore’s busy start to the offseason has been focused on the offensive side. The Orioles traded a controllable starter with upside for one year of outfielder Taylor Ward. They also gave a massive contract to Alonso, who might fall off during the back end of the deal.
In addition, the Orioles traded for closer Ryan Helsley, who won National League Reliever of the Year in 2024.
The Orioles are making moves to contend in 2026 after winning 75 games last season. I don’t think they do this unless they are confident in their ability to upgrade the rotation.
In 2025, the Orioles’ starting rotation ranked 24th in the majors with a 4.65 ERA. They bring back Trevor Rogers and Kyle Bradish, but they need one or two more starters to field a competitive staff in the American League East.
The Orioles can make those upgrades by signing Suárez and trading for another starter. That’s why I’m also predicting them as the favorites in the MacKenzie Gore next team market.
If the market for Suárez heats up, I could see the Chicago Cubs as a threat to outbid the Orioles. For now, I’d give the edge to Baltimore.
