As detailed in my MLB home run props today column, I’m confidently recommending a bet on Milwaukee Brewers catcher William Contreras to hit a homer against the New York Mets on Friday night at American Family Field.
This weekend’s series is a potential 2024 MLB playoff picture preview, with the Brewers set to host the No. 6 seed in the Wild Card round next week. The Mets are currently No. 5, though the final two spots are up in the air with the Arizona Diamondbacks and Atlanta Braves looming.
Contreras offers the best value for hitting a home run on Friday. He has 23 this season, including one last Friday against the Diamondbacks.
Ballpark Pal’s model rates him as the ninth-most likely player to hit a homer in all of baseball, projecting a fair price of +390. THE BAT X’s projection of 0.18 home runs for Contreras also shows a slight value.
My home run props column (up nearly 50 units on the year) has been about identifying value all season. It has led to multiple winning tickets on Friday, though none of these picks have recorded a grand slam.
Here’s hoping Contreras can break that streak on the final Friday of the regular season.
