The 2025 Home Run Derby, a significant event on the MLB calendar, will take place at Truist Park in Atlanta on Monday at 8 p.m. ET and will be televised on ESPN.
While Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Oneil Cruz began as the betting favorite in his derby debut, Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh has since passed him ahead of tonight’s event. Raleigh leads all players with 38 home runs this year.

Who Will Win the 2025 MLB Home Run Derby?

I don’t see any reason to back one of the favorites in what should be a wide-open field. Matt Olson is the only participant with derby experience, losing in the first round of the 2021 edition at Coors Field.
The remaining seven players are making their debut in this year’s Home Run Derby.
That could open the door for Tampa Bay Rays third baseman Junior Caminero, who just turned 22 years old on July 5. He’d be the youngest winner in the history of the event, besting Juan Gonzalez for that title when he won in 1993 at 23 years old.
Caminero has the skill set to win the Home Run Derby at some point in his career. According to Baseball Savant, he ranks in the 100th percentile with an average bat speed of 78 miles per hour. He’s hit his 23 home runs this year at all spots across the diamond.
When assessing which kind of player is worth backing, I like targeting those with high bat speed and the ability to put it anywhere over the fence.
Caminero checks all the boxes as a value play at his current price tag.
