- The San Francisco Giants went 80-82 in 2024.
- Jung Hoo Lee is a player worth watching after a lost debut season.
The San Francisco Giants have only had one winning season since 2016 after finishing 80-82 in 2024.
The Giants have similar expectations in 2025 in a competitive National League West division.
Here’s a look at the latest MLB betting lines and my prediction for the Giants ahead of the 2025 season:
Giants MLB Odds 2025
Win Total: 79.5
NL West: +3000
NL Pennant: +4000
World Series: +8000
The Giants’ MLB odds continue to price them as a long shot this season. Their win total has dropped four games from last year’s line, marking the team’s lowest win total since 2021.
For what it’s worth, San Francisco won 107 games in 2021.
For comparison, check out this breakdown of San Francisco’s preseason odds in recent years:
| Year | Win Total | NL West | NL Pennant | World Series |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2024 | 83.5 | +1000 | +2200 | +4500 |
| 2023 | 80.5 | +1200 | +2500 | +5000 |
| 2022 | 86.5 | +550 | +1200 | +2500 |
| 2021 | 75.5 | +5000 | +4000 | +8000 |
Giants Depth Chart 2025
According to RosterResource, the Giants upgraded their depth chart in a couple of places under Buster Posey, the new president of baseball operations.
The Giants inked shortstop Willy Adames to a seven-year, $182 million deal to fill the most enormous hole in their lineup. San Francisco also signed veteran starter Justin Verlander to join the rotation.
Projected lineup
| Player | Position | Hand | 2024 wRC+ |
|---|---|---|---|
| LaMonte Wade Jr. | 1B | L | 119 |

Projected rotation
| Player | Hand | 2024 ERA | 2024 IP |

Giants Player to Watch in 2025
After a lost debut season, Jung Hoo Lee is expected to be ready by opening day as the Giants’ center fielder.
Lee played in only 37 games last year after signing a six-year, $113 million contract. His surface stats (.262/.310/.331) were underwhelming, but some of that might have been bad luck. He underperformed his xSLG by 73 points and xWOBA by 35 points while posting a .273 BABIP.
I’ll continue to be interested in Lee’s batting props throughout the season, especially in Oracle Park where triples can be on the menu for a speedy hitter. Lee is +2000 to lead the league in triples, a tempting flier as a long-shot bet.
Giants Betting Prediction for 2025
Based on the updated MLB odds market, I predict the Giants will miss the playoffs (-275) in 2025.
The Giants have only made the playoffs once in the past eight seasons. They have finished third or lower in the division seven times since then and are projected to be third or fourth again in the NL West.
The Los Angeles Dodgers, San Diego Padres, and Arizona Diamondbacks all figure to be better than the Giants.
I’m not actually interested in laying this big price on the Giants missing the postseason, so I’ll explore other markets to fade them later this spring.
Prediction: Giants will miss the playoffs (-275)
