Dodgers vs. Brewers Prediction: Game 1 NLCS Preview

  • Get MLB picks and analysis for Dodgers vs. Brewers.
  • The Dodgers are -150 favorites in Game 1.
  • Los Angeles is -220 to win the NLCS.

The Los Angeles Dodgers and Milwaukee Brewers will clash in this year’s NLCS, starting with Game 1 at 8:08 p.m. ET on Monday at American Family Field on TBS.

The Brewers clinched their first playoff series win since 2018, securing a 3-1 victory over the Chicago Cubs in Game 5 of the NLDS on Saturday. Milwaukee, which posted the best record in the regular season, is now 3-0 at home this postseason.

That home streak will be tested against the defending champions. The Dodgers have been off since Thursday, giving them enough rest days to make sure their pitching plan is set for this best-of-seven series.

Here’s a look at the latest MLB odds and my Dodgers vs. Brewers prediction ahead of Game 1:

Dodgers vs. Brewers Odds for Game 1

  • Dodgers moneyline: -150
  • Brewers moneyline: +125
  • Total: 7.5

Dodgers vs. Brewers Prediction for Game 1

Based on the initial MLB betting lines, I like the under in the first five innings (4.5) for my favorite Dodgers vs. Brewers prediction in Game 1 of the NLCS on Monday.

Left-hander Blake Snell will take the mound for the Dodgers in Game 1. He’s been impressive this postseason, allowing two runs on five hits across 13 frames in two starts. In his last start, Snell tossed six scoreless innings against the Philadelphia Phillies.

Ballpark Pal’s model is projecting another effective outing for Snell. He’s forecasted for 5.84 innings, allowing 1.87 runs on 4.11 hits. Given the Dodgers’ extended break before this series, their pitching staff is in a favorable position for the start of the NLCS.

Milwaukee is expected to use an opener, as Jose Quintana and Quinn Priester are the most likely options. The former is a left-handed pitcher, which could be the best way to mitigate Shohei Ohtani’s impact to start the game. Quintana also pitched three scoreless innings against Chicago in his last appearance.

Ballpark Pal projects 2.4 runs for the Dodgers in the first five innings, so I like the chances of a slow start for both lineups on Monday.

Prediction: F5 under 4.5 (-130)
