When it comes to betting on Major League Baseball, there is a simple difference between betting on the run line and the moneyline.

Moneyline wagers are simply backing which team will win the game. A run line wager is determined by the final score.

For example, someone who took a +1.5 run line bet would need that team to lose by one or win outright. A person who placed a ticket on -1.5 would need that team to win by two or more runs. That is how the wager is graded at the end of each game.

Is Run Line the Same as Spread in MLB Betting?

Betting on the run line is the same as betting on the spread in other sports. The final score determines whether the wager is successful or not.

The difference is that run lines are typically +1.5 or -1.5, whereas the spread varies more in other sports. While run lines aren’t exclusively 1.5, it is the most common number for a preseason wager.

MLB betting odds for each run line will vary by team and game.
