Angels vs. White Sox Prediction & Odds for Opening Day

  • Get betting predictions and analysis for Angels vs. White Sox on Opening Day.
  • First pitch is scheduled for 4:10 p.m. ET at Rate Field.
  • My Angels vs. White Sox prediction is Los Angeles’ moneyline value (-135).

The two worst teams in the American League last year will meet on Opening Day to kick off the 2025 season. First pitch is set for 4:10 p.m. ET on Thursday at Rate Field.

In fairness, there is a difference between being as bad as the Angels were last year (63-99) and the White Sox (41-121), who set the modern record for most losses in a season. Still, both teams will look to put last year behind them with a win in the opener.

Here’s a look at the latest MLB odds and my Angels vs. White Sox prediction for Opening Day.

Angels vs. White Sox Odds: Thursday, March 27

  • Angels moneyline: -150
  • White Sox moneyline: +125
  • Game total: 8 (-105/-115)

Angels vs. White Sox Opening Day Starting Pitchers

Both teams will seek a fresh slate with new Opening Day starters in 2025. Sean Burke will take the mound for the White Sox after posting a 1.42 ERA and 22 strikeouts in 19 innings last year.

Yusei Kikuchi, who signed a three-year deal worth nearly $64 million in the offseason, begins as the Angels’ ace.

  • Angels starting pitcher: Yusei Kikuchi
  • White Sox starting pitcher: Sean Burke

Angels vs. White Sox Prediction for Opening Day

Based on the updated MLB betting lines, I like the Angels’ moneyline value (-135) for my Angels vs. White Sox prediction on Opening Day.

Fading the White Sox proved to be a good strategy last year. I took the Detroit Tigers’ moneyline price (-125) as my favorite prediction for Opening Day in 2024. Detroit won 1-0.

While the White Sox probably won’t lose as many games as last year, they still are the worst team in the AL. And the Angels are a bit underrated after a sneaky active offseason.

Kikuchi was one of the first signings of the winter, earning a well-deserved payday. After last year’s trade deadline, the 33-year-old lefty posted a 2.70 ERA in 10 starts for the Houston Astros.

In the spring, Kikuchi struck out 11 batters across seven innings. He should start the season on the right foot with a favorable matchup in the opener.

Angels vs. White Sox Prediction: Angels Moneyline (-135)

  • Pick made on March 18.
