  • The 2025 DC Open returns the tour to the US after a long European detour.
  • The total ATP prize purse in Washington, D.C., is more than $2.3 million.
  • The total WTA prize purse is worth more than $1 million.

After a grueling six months of nonstop international travel and intense professional tennis, most tour players need a vacation. It’s understandable.

But with Wimbledon now concluded for a full week, some players are ready to get back on the court and start earning some prize money.

The Mubadala Citi DC Open in Washington, D.C., is the first 500-point tour event since the grass finale in London. It also marks the return of the professional tennis circuit to the United States.

That summer swing will conclude in September with the U.S. Open. There will be multiple ATP 1000 events in the interim.

In the meantime, East Coast residents can enjoy a little live tennis in the nation’s capital – assuming they can stand the swampy heat.

The DC Open will enjoy another solid player list this year, including Taylor Fritz, Ben Shelton, and Alex de Minaur on the men’s side. Amanda Anisimova and Katie Boulter will be playing in the concurrent women’s tournament.

The total men’s prize purse in DC is $2,396,115. The women’s purse, which is smaller for this event, is $1,282,951.
