It all comes down to this. LSU can add a second national championship in three years this weekend in the NCAA baseball championship series.
Standing in the Tigers’ way is Coastal Carolina: the Sun Belt champion that’s won 26 games in a row. The Chanticleers haven’t lost a single game since April – including their conference tournament, the Auburn super regional, and the week of CWS games that have already been played.
LSU is the favorite, sure. The Tigers have more resources and probably more draft picks on the team.Â
But don’t mistake this for a David vs. Goliath finale. Coastal won the national championship in 2016 and has been a near-annual fixture in the NCAA postseason.Â
With plus numbers in play and a long winning streak still intact, Coastal Carolina will certainly be a target on my bet sheet this weekend during the CWS finale.
