  • Ohio State is a 2.5-point favorite against Oregon.
  • The total for this College Football Playoff matchup is 55.5.
  • Kickoff is at 5 p.m. ET on Wednesday at the Rose Bowl.

In what might be the best game of the College Football Playoff quarterfinals, the Ohio State Buckeyes (11-2) and Oregon Ducks (13-0) will face off at 5 p.m. ET on Wednesday in the Rose Bowl.

Honestly, this might be the best college football game of the year. It could determine which team ultimately wins the national title.

Ohio State dismantled Tennessee, 42-17, in the opening round. Oregon had a bye after winning the Big Ten championship with a 45-37 victory over Penn State on Dec. 7.

The Buckeyes are 2.5-point favorites, but the Ducks have the rest advantage and won the regular-season meeting in October.

Here is a look at the latest Ohio State vs. Oregon college football odds and my prediction for this CFP showdown:

Ohio State vs. Oregon Odds, Jan. 1

Ohio State vs. Oregon Prediction – Wednesday, Jan. 1

Based on the latest college football betting lines at the BetMGM online sportsbook, my Ohio State vs. Oregon prediction is to back the Ducks’ moneyline (+115) because I believe in Dan Lanning’s team off the bye.

I bet Oregon to win the national title last January, and I see no reason to jump off this team now. The Ducks have been perfect this year, including a 32-31 victory over the Buckeyes on Oct. 12.

Oregon limited Ohio State’s rushing attack in that game. With the extra time to prepare, I expect Lanning to develop a game plan to contain Jeremiah Smith (nine catches, 100 yards) and Emeka Egbuka (10 catches, 93 yards) in the rematch.

These are the top two teams in SP+, with Ohio State having a narrow edge over Oregon. With this game being a true toss-up, I’ll take the plus-money price on the rested team.

Prediction: Oregon Moneyline (+115)
