Michigan vs. Oklahoma: Prediction, Odds, Betting Preview

  • Michigan vs. Oklahoma kicks off at 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
  • This is the only game featuring two AP Top 25 teams this week.

Unlike Week 1 of the 2025 college football season, there’s really only one marquee Top 25 game this weekend. College GameDay will be in attendance, and the winner will get a nice bump toward College Football Playoff contention.

That game is the SEC vs. Big Ten showdown between Michigan and Oklahoma.

For anyone scouring the Week 2 college football odds market, I have pretty strong feelings about which side of this game is the right one.

Michigan vs. Oklahoma Odds

  • Point Spread: Oklahoma -5.5
  • Moneyline: Oklahoma -200  |  Michigan +165
  • Over/Under: 45.5

Michigan vs. Oklahoma Preview

I’ve written ad nauseam about Oklahoma over the last few months, so there’s no need to create all that analysis for the fifth time in this article. But for the totally uninitiated, it goes something like this.

Oklahoma had a rough go of things in 2024, and a lot of their struggles were written off as life in the SEC for a former Big 12 team. But as Sooner fans can tell you, the final record at the end of 2024 had much more to do with the health of the receiver group and the offensive line. The schedule bump was only a secondary factor.

This year, with a healthy team again, Oklahoma is starting from a strong position. That’s before even factoring in the major upgrade Oklahoma got at the center of its offense, with QB John Mateer and OC Ben Arbuckle coming down from Washington State.

Michigan has been a solid defensive team in recent years, but it’s working through a freshman quarterback and a roster rebuild that dates back to its 2023 turnover after winning the national championship.

In this true road game, I think it will be difficult for the Wolverines to win, and 5.5 points just isn’t enough to entice me to back what I view as the inferior team.

Michigan vs. Oklahoma Prediction

I am predicting a win and cover for Oklahoma.

I view Oklahoma as a fringe playoff team this year with Mateer and Arbuckle running the offense. The market hasn’t caught on yet, which makes this a great buy point. If this game were in November, I suspect the market would be closer to Oklahoma -9.5.

Prediction: Oklahoma -5.5
