This is an official Big 12 conference game that will count in the standings, scheduled for Aug. 23 and to be played on a green rock in the North Atlantic Ocean. And as starved as everyone is for college football, I expect a major audience for this game.Â

Kansas State and Iowa State are both key members of the Big 12’s contrarian wing who are moving back toward more traditional football.Â
With both teams losing All-American pass-catchers, on top of this game’s status as an international Week 0 game, there are worse bets to consider than just a straight Under 49.5.
By the way, the Week 0 Ireland under has hit in two straight seasons, with exactly 45 points being scored in both games.
But I personally favor a side here. Iowa State is 4-1 straight up and 5-0 ATS against Kansas State since 2020.Â
Since KSU has won 40 games over that period and has been one of the most consistent teams in the conference, that hints at a schematic advantage that Iowa State head coach Matt Campbell has against the Wildcats.Â
I’ll also throw in here that the series underdog is 8-3 ATS since 2014. Underdogs have been profitable in Ireland, too, with Georgia Tech and Northwestern scoring outright wins as conference underdogs in 2024 and 2022, respectively.Â

I am a big fan of Kansas State coach Chris Klieman, but it’s hard to ignore Campbell’s head-to-head success against Kansas State during his tenure as head coach. If the Cyclones are going to be priced as a dog, it’s hard to do anything but favor the plus money.
