Missouri head coach Eli Drinkwitz signed a new deal before the 2025 season that extended his contract through the 2029 season.
Eli Drinkwitz Salary
Drinkwitz is scheduled to make $9 million in total compensation for the 2025 season. That ranks 11th among all FBS coaches this year (and sixth among SEC coaches), according to USA Today.
The total compensation increases in 2026 and again in 2028:
- 2025: $9 million
- 2026: $9.25 million
- 2027: $9.25 million
- 2028: $9.5 million
- 2029: $9.5 million
Drinkwitz also has $12 million to spend on his coaching staff in 2025, up from $9.8 million in 2024.
Eli Drinkwitz Buyout
If Drinkwitz leaves Missouri for another job before Dec. 1, 2025, he must pay $5 million. That number decreases three times through the remainder of the deal:
- Before Dec. 1, 2025: $5 million
- Dec. 2, 2025 – Dec. 1, 2027: $4 million
- Dec. 2, 2027 – Dec. 1, 2028: $3 million
- Dec. 2, 2028 – Dec. 1, 2029: $1 million
If Missouri fires Drinkwitz without cause, he’s owed 75% of his full remaining base salary and non-salary compensation.
