FCS teams continue to trickle up to the FBS level. In 2025, it’s Missouri State and Delaware that will join the highest subdivision inside of Division I, playing a full schedule of FBS opponents as transitional members of Conference USA.

Kennesaw State – also a Conference USA member – played its first FBS season last year.

Six former FCS college football programs have transitioned up to FBS since the start of the 2022 academic year. Five of them landed in C-USA; the sixth is JMU.

Naturally, BetMGM has college football lines for all of these teams.

How Many FBS Teams Are There?

There are now 136 Division I FBS college football programs, as of the 2025 season.
