The 10 Best North Carolina Wins In College Football History (So Far)

North Carolina's Chad Scott (6) breaks through Miami's Anthony Reddick (26) and Leon Williams, back, for a 9-yard touchdown run in the foruth quarter of North Carolina's 31-28 win in Chapel Hill, N.C., Saturday Oct. 30, 2004. Scott had 175 yards rushing and two touchdowns.

North Carolina might be labeled as a basketball school, but its football team has found its share of glory.

Tar Heels fans are hoping the next chapter will start in 2025, with celebrated Hall of Fame coach Bill Belichick coming to town to lead the transition to the next era of UNC football.

If UNC fans have their way, the team will be good enough to score a victory that could merit consideration among the all-time great North Carolina football wins. (For now, North Carolina football odds remain modestly optimistic for 2025.)

The chart below lists what I believe are the biggest, best, and most prominent wins in the history of North Carolina football. The old heads around Chapel Hill will remember quite a few of these – and probably have some opinions about even more games that I could have included here.
