Shakur Stevenson vs. William Zepeda: Prediction

For this WBC lightweight championship match between Stevenson and Zepeda, I predict that the former will win via unanimous decision against the latter because he already has a blueprint to beat power punchers and has enormous experience in high-level championship fights.

Much like he did against Edwin De Los Santos, I expect Stevenson to break down Zepeda with stiff counters and solid jabs that would allow him to score points in the judges’ scorecards while frustrating him at the same time.

This fight plan will ensure that Zepeda’s punching power will be neutralized and won’t give him a chance to land a clean, strong punch on Stevenson. “Killa-kur” is a master of finding angles and cutting off the ring against his opponents before throwing his combinations.

Although not known for his punching power, Stevenson has mastered the art of winning without getting hit and is happy to dance around the ring against his opponent while simultaneously hitting them with solid jabs and strong counters.

Shakur Stevenson’s Recent Fight Results

Stevenson was the former WBC and WBO super featherweight champion before he moved up to the lightweight division in 2023. He made a successful debut in the new weight class with a sixth-round demolition of Shuchiro Yoshino.

He then proceeded to capture the vacant WBC belt against De Los Santos in November 2023, before successfully fending off the challenges from Artem Harutyunyan and Josh Padley to remain the titleholder.

William Zepeda’s Recent Fight Results

Zepeda is an undefeated Mexican boxer who has one-punch knockout power. He needed 31 wins in his professional career before he was able to earn a shot for the WBC interim lightweight title last November against Tevin Farmer.

He and Farmer went toe-to-toe in an instant classic fight, and eked out a close split decision victory. With how close their first bout went, they ran it back last March and once again had a close encounter. But Zepeda got away with another close win, this time, a majority decision nod from the judges.
