I predict a unanimous decision victory for Conlan against Bateson. He’s the more experienced boxer and has fought several of the top names in the featherweight division, with no disrespect to Bateson’s resume and previous opponents.
Aside from the wealth of experience that Conlan will have, his speed and powerful left hook could give Bateson problems on fight night. These attributes presented problems for Leigh Wood, Lopez, and Jordan Gill when Conlan fought them.
Conlan’s main flaw is his vulnerability to counterpunches when lunging forward. However, I don’t think Bateson has the power to knock him down or out.
Bateson’s biggest asset is his high fight IQ, which allows him to adjust his strategies mid-fight. He lacks one-punch knockout power to shift a bout’s momentum.

Conlan, a former Olympic bronze medalist, turned pro in 2017. He debuted with a third-round TKO over Tim Ibarra and went 18-3 in his next 21 fights.
He captured minor titles and challenged Luis Alberto Lopez for the IBF featherweight title in May 2023, losing by fifth-round TKO. He then split his next two bouts, losing to Jordan Hill and beating Asad Asif Khan.
Jack Bateson’s Recent Fight Results
Bateson is an accomplished amateur boxer who won multiple youth and junior championships before he transitioned to the professional ranks in 2017. He fought Zsolt Sarkozi for his first pro fight and won via first-round TKO finish.
The British boxing star swept his next 16 fights and captured multiple minor titles before he received his first pro career defeat at the hands of Shabaz Masoud in November 2022 via 12th-round TKO. He quickly avenged that loss with his current four-fight win streak.
His latest bout, against Danny Quartermaine in December, ended in a technical draw after both sustained severe cuts from a head clash.
