Isaac Cruz defends his WBC interim super lightweight title for the second time, as he welcomes the challenge of Lamont Roach Jr. on Dec. 6 at Frost Bank Center in San Antonio.

Although he’s the current titleholder, Cruz heads into the championship fight as the betting underdog with +190 boxing odds. Meanwhile, Roach Jr. will be the -230 betting favorite due to his better pro record.

Lamont Roach Jr. vs. Isaac Cruz: Prediction

I predict a unanimous decision win for Roach Jr. against Cruz because he’s the more disciplined and technical fighter. Roach Jr. is also very defensively responsible and doesn’t overextend when he throws his punches.

Meanwhile, Cruz is a pressure-fighter who fires a lot of volume to overwhelm his opponents. He uses his combinations to push opponents against the ropes. However, he often leaves himself open and vulnerable to counters.

This wild, chaotic style of Cruz can be beneficial to Roach Jr., as he can catch him with a solid counterpunch, much like Gervonta Davis did to Cruz in their 2021 fight. A TKO/KO finish is highly unlikely because both boxing stars are very durable and have granite chins.

Lamont Roach Jr.’s Recent Fight Results

Roach Jr. was an amateur standout who made his pro debut in 2014. He recorded four wins and one draw in his last five fights, with victories over Rene Alvarado, Angel Rodriguez, Hector Luis Garcia, and Feargal McCrory. His lone draw result was with Gervonta Davis.
