Reigning WBC and WBO super flyweight champion Jesse Rodriguez defends his titles against the former IBF super flyweight titleholder Fernando Daniel Martinez on Nov. 22 at ANB Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Although both boxers are still undefeated in their pro careers, Rodriguez heads into the championship clash as the heavy betting favorite with -1000 boxing odds. Martinez, on the other hand, will be the overwhelming betting underdog with +600 odds.

Jesse Rodriguez vs. Fernando Daniel Martinez: Prediction
I predict a late TKO/KO victory for Rodriguez over Martinez, as the former has more variations in his combinations and uses more angles to find the best punches to land against his opponents. Meanwhile, the latter only fights in a straight line.
This predictable approach by Martinez can be the key for Rodriguez, who likes to be picky with his shots. Sure, both are forward pressure boxers, but Rodriguez uses his speed and footwork to methodically break down his opponents.
On top of this speed and footwork is the power in Rodriguez’s punches, which, when landed clean, can send his opponents to the shadow realm. Martinez may have his moments early in the fight, but as it progresses, it will eventually be in favor of Rodriguez.
Martinez throws a lot of power punches in the early stages of a fight, but he doesn’t land them all. This takes a significant amount of energy out of him, and he won’t be able to sustain this type of output for 12 rounds.
Jesse Rodriguez’s Recent Fight Results
Rodriguez was a former World Junior Amateur Championships silver medalist before he transitioned to the pro ranks in March 2017. He beat Mauricio Cruz via decision in his debut in the paid ranks.
Since then, he racked up win after win until he was pitted against Carlos Cuadras in February 2022 for the vacant WBC super flyweight title. Rodriguez seized the opportunity and defeated him via the judges’ scorecards to capture his first world championship.
After that world title breakthrough, he added the WBO and IBF world titles with wins over Wisaksil Wangek, Israel Gonzalez, Christian Hernandez, Sunny Edwards, Juan Francisco Estrada, Pedro Guevara, and, most recently, Phumelela Cafu.
Fernando Daniel Martinez’s Recent Fight Results
Martinez was a former Olympian who joined the 2016 Rio Olympics. His first pro fight was against Juan Ignacio Haran in August 2017, and he beat him via fourth-round retirement. Three fights later, he secured the Federacion Argentina de Box Argentino super flyweight title against Fabian Claro with a second-round knockout.
In February 2022, Martinez challenged Jerwin Ancajas for the IBF super flyweight title and successfully dethroned him with a decision victory. The Argentinian boxing star defended the strap three times with a rematch win over Ancajas, Jade Bornea, and Kazuto Ioka.
His most recent bout was a rematch against his Japanese rival Ioka last May, and he avoided a revenge win from him with another unanimous decision nod from the judges. This victory earned him a shot at Rodriguez’s WBC and WBO titles.
