Reigning WBO flyweight world champion Anthony Olascuaga will defend his belt for the fourth time on Dec. 17 against Japanese challenger Taku Kuwahara inside the Kokugikan Arena in Japan.

With his current win streak and better record, Olascuaga heads into the championship bout as the heavy betting favorite with -910 boxing odds. Meanwhile, Kuawahara is going to be the overwhelming underdog with +600 odds. A draw result has odds of +2000.

Anthony Olascuaga vs. Taku Kuwahara: Prediction

I predict a TKO/KO finish for Olascuaga in under six rounds against Kuwahara because he has more power in his punches and has the world champion experience that the Japanese challenger doesn’t have.

Both Olascuaga and Kuwahara like to fight in range and fully utilize their reach. The latter, though, is quicker, as he has great footwork and movement inside the ring. This is why Olascuaga would need at least three rounds to figure out his timing.

Once Olascuaga gets the timing of his punches on point, I think he’ll be able to rock Kuwahara and eventually score a TKO/KO finish. His timing will definitely beat the speed of the challenger and extend his reign as the WBO flyweight titleholder.

Olascuaga is the current WBO flyweight champion who rides a five-fight win streak. In his last five victories, he defeated Giemel Magramo, Riku Kano, Jonathan Gonzalez, Hiroto Kyoguchi, and, most recently, Juan Carlos Camacho-Rivera.
