- Unlike the concurrent China Open, the Japan Open only hosts ATP players this week.
- The WTA will play its own Japan Open draw in Osaka in October.
- The total men’s prize purse is more than $2 million.
Following an arduous fortnight of US Open tennis odds at Flushing Meadows, the men’s tennis tour has mostly enjoyed some time off.Â
While the women’s tour has remained in action in Guadalajara and Korea, the ATP has enjoyed a quieter period of rest and recovery following the conclusion of the final Grand Slam event of the year.
This week, finally, the men’s tour is back in action, as the ATP has caught up with the WTA in Asia.Â
While the main event over the next few days is the joint tournament happening at the China Open in Beijing, the men are also playing a separate tournament in Tokyo. Both ATP events are 500-point draws with medium-sized purses.Â
The women will play their own Japan Open draw in mid-October, making this one of the rare events where there are non-concurrent men’s and women’s draws.Â
The men’s draw is held in Tokyo, while the women’s draw is played in Osaka.
